Kashmir relief: Goa Congress donates month's wages

Panaji, Sep 9 (IANS): The Congress legislators in Goa Tuesday decided to donate a month's wages for relief and rehabilitation work in Jammu and Kashmir following the devastating floods in the northernmost state.

Leader of Opposition in the assembly Pratapsing Rane said the decision was taken by the nine-member Congress Legislature Party.

"It is to show solidarity for those who have lost lives and property and those suffering from hardships following the floods in Jammu and Kashmir. Everyone should contribute to this just cause," Rane said.

A Goa MLA earns monthly salary and allowances to the tune of Rs.1.2 lakh every month. The state has 40 MLAs, of whom nine are from the Congress.
