Monti Fest celebrated at St Joseph's church

Mumbai, Sep 8: Monti Fest was celebrated at the St Joseph's church, Mira Road here on Monday September 8.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese concelebrated the mass. The Bishop blessed the new paddy grains and vegetables that were brought to the Church as part of the tradition.

The Bishop said that through Monti Fest we worship our mother nature. "When we understand the love of our mother, our life will be that of fulfillment. This is also a festival of farmers," he added.

Fr Nelson Pinto, parish priest of the church, Superior Fr Deigo Goveas, assistant parish priests Fr Roshan D'Souza, Fr Daniel Christian, Fr Lancy Mendonca, Fr Rajesh D'Souza, Br Pavan Saldanha and Br Sandeep Goveas joined in the celebration.

Hilary D'Mello gave the introductory remarks. Meena D'Souza and Jerome D'Souza read the Bible. Murphy Rebello, Wilson D'Souza and Francis D'Souza were honoured during the occasion.
