Mangalore, Sep 6: Four persons, who had robbed a person of a cell phone, cash and ornaments before escaping towards Kerala, were taken into custody by the Ullal police on Friday September 5. The accused were taken into custody by the Kerala police after getting permission from the Kannur court in Kerala.
After questioning the four, the police produced them in a court in the city on Friday evening.
The four persons, who were travelling in a car bearing a Haryana registration number, had approached a car parked by the roadside at Naganakatte near Thokkottu here. They had pointed a revolver at the person seated in car and robbed cash, ornaments and cell phone after
threatening him.
Mustafa from Kasargod, who visited Mangalore in the company of his friend about a month back, was going back towards Kerala when his car was stranded at the above spot as the fuel tank unexpectedly went dry. After the gang forced him to part with valuables and fled in their car towards Kerala, Mustafa called the police from Ullal and Kasargod. Based on the information conveyed by Mustafa, the police stopped the car near Kasargod checkpost and arrested its occupants. The arrested persons were presented in Kannur court whereupon they were remanded to judicial custody.
The arrested have been identified as Abrar, Gulam Muhammed, Mustaq, and Muneer from Mumbai. The Ullal police, after obtaining their custody, questioned them for sometime before producing them in court, it is gathered.
