Manish Malhotra enters fine jewellery designing

New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS): After serving the fashion world with the best of costumes, ace designer Manish Malhotra now forays into jewellery designing. He says that he is doing this to "mark another milestone in the world of design".

He has joined hands with Forevermark, the diamond brand from the De Beers Group, for its new collection.

As part of his collaboration, he has launched a pair of bridal chandelier earrings under the expertise of Anmol Jewellers.

The inspiration behind the earrings was his interpretation of the vintage opulence of the well-travelled aristocracy of the 1930s and 1940s, said a statement.

"A promise holds deep value in my heart. As an Indian designer it's my prerogative to explore our culture and heritage and my promise is to promote the rich traditions of art and design in our country," said Malhotra.

"By associating with Forevermark, I want to mark another milestone in the world of design, keeping my promise alive," he added.

Crafted with Forevermark teardrop diamonds, the pair of chandelier earrings took two months to come to fruition, featuring 56 diamonds.

Sachin Jain, president, Forevermark India, said: "Forevermark prides itself on working with experts who are as passionate about their area of expertise as we are about diamonds.

"Manish Malhotra is undoubtedly one of the world's great fashion talents and we are honoured that he has chosen to work with Forevermark diamonds for his first fine jewellery piece."
