Kasargod: Blackmailing of CA - Two including prime accused give slip to police

Kasargod, Sep 4: In connection to the alleged kidnapping, blackmailing and extortion of a chartered accountant from Kottayam, two accused escaped from the police just as they were about to be arrested. The incident occurred near Badiadka here.

The Kottayam police had arrested three persons in the case, while main accused Nisar, a resident of Kumble Pookatte and second accused Kishore, a resident of Mattancheri, were absconding. Nisar and Kishore were traced on Wednesday September 3 evening, but just as the police reached them, they managed to escape.

It is suspected that they have fled to Karnataka.

The Kottayam police had earlier arrested Mohammed Ashraf alias Cochin Ashraf (24), a resident of Kumble Dharmattadka Korikundu, Hassainar alias Karate Hassainar (45), a resident of Kumble Pervad and Godson alias Yesudas (30), resident of Fort Cochin for kidnapping a chartered accountant from Kottayam and extorting money from him after forcibly clicking photos of him with a nude girl.

It was said earlier that Nisar and Kishore were holed up in Kasargod. A team led by Kasargod DySP T P Ranjith was on patrol. Meanwhile, the police got the information that they were in Mulleriya. When they reached Mulleriya, the accused tried to escape. They reportedly hit their car against the police car during the chase, and fled away. It is said that the accused may have fled to Vittal in Bantwal taluk.

An investigation with the cooperation of Karnataka police is in progress.

The accused had allegedly blackmailed the chartered accountant after forcibly clicking his photos with nude girls, and extorted a total of Rs 15 lac on three different occasions. The fourth time when he was kidnapped, his family members informed the police, who tracked down and arrested three of the accused. A search is on for the other persons involved in the case.
