Beltangady, Sep 3: The rape case filed against D V Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik Gowda took a new turn with Sandalwood director Rishi claiming that Mythriya Gowda, who filed the case against Karthik, is married to him.
In this regard, Rishi has filed a complaint against Mythriya alleging her of cheating and polygamy.
Rishi, who was on a visit to Dharmasthala on Wednesday September 3, told reporters that he was ready to take oath in Sri Manjunatha Swamy temple of Dharmasthala that Mythriya was his wife.
"Mythriya married me 10 years ago in July 2004. I know her very well. She has filed a false complaint against Karthik Gowda," he said.
"If I am lying, let her or her family file a complaint against me," he challenged.
"Innocents should never be punished. Even if a hundred guilty people go unpunished, an innocent should not be punished," he added.
He further alleged that he had found Mythriya living with another person in Pune, and when questioned, she had threatened him and warned against revealing the status of their relationship.
"I have filed a complaint against her as I was justice. She has cheated me," he said.
In his complaint, Rishi states Mythriya had married him in 2004 and fled after robbing him of Rs 2 lac.
On Tuesday, a magistrate court in Bangalore heard Rishi’s complaint and directed him to submit all relevant documents. The case will be heard again on September 16.
According to the complaint, Rishi met Mythriya when they were shooting for the film Surya, The Great. Mythriya was then called Shruthi Gowda and Shivani. The two fell in love, got married on July 17, 2004, and lived together for four months at Sanman Lodge (earlier called Hoysala) in Seshadripuram, Rishi said.
Rishi has accused Mythriya of going out with other men in his absence, and told the police he put up with it in the hope that she would mend her ways. In October 2004, Mythriya allegedly left him, taking with her Rs 2 lac in cash.
Rishi heard she was in Pune and went looking for her. There he found her with another man, also from Bangalore, according to the complaint.
The man reportedly told Rishi he did not like the way Mythriya was conducting herself. “From then, I forgot about her and was leading my life,” Rishi has said. Rishi, who claims credit for giving Mythriya a break in the movies, tracked her down on August 27, 2007. When he went to her house in Ganganagar to ask her to return his money, she abused and warned him of dire consequences if he told anyone they were married, it alleges.
However, Mythriya Gowda has refuted the claim and denied that she is married to the director.
