Udupi, Sep 2: Police constable Sudhir, who was accused of blackmailing a man with fake photos of his daughter and extorting Rs 25 lac from him with threats of making it public, has been suspended from duty.

Sudhir and his accomplice Mohammed Shamil have gone absconding ever since the father of the girl lodged a complaint against them, sources said.
Speaking to reporters, SP Rajendra Prasad said that a team would be formed to trace the accused and they would be arrested soon.
He further said that a departmental enquiry will be conducted against Sudhir.
Sudhir had allegedly blackmailed a man claiming that the police had photos of his daughter involved in pornography, and Shamil, on the pretext of helping the family, had allegedly extorted Rs 25 lac from the victim.
Sources said that the girl had got newly-married, and as they did not want her reputation to be damaged, they bowed to pressure and managed to pay the amount after mortaging their house. Thereafter, the girl's father realized that the photos were fake and approched the human rights council. It is said that Sudhir and Shamil, who grew worried with the human rights council's intervention, tried to close the matter and paid the money back to the girl's father.
The father, however, decided to pursue with the case and filed a complaint with the additional SP, after which the accused went absconding, it is learnt.
Sudhir and Shamil had earlier allegedly tried to fix a businessman in a false ganja case. Sudhir had also been suspended in another case of filing false charges, sources said.
