Gurgaon, Sep 2 (IANS): Olympic bronze medal winning boxer M.C. Mary Kom Tuesday said she badly missed being a part a Glasgow Commonwealth Games but she is ready to for the Asian Games that would be held in the South Korean city of Incheon Sep 19-Oct 4.
Mary Kom was present here to mark the new beginning of Artemis hospital's campaign for cancer and cardiac problems in women. The initiative aims to spread awareness regarding these diseases all across the country including the unexplored North-East.
"I was sad that I could not take part in the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games. But I am ready for the Asian Games. The preparations are on and I will give my best," said Mary Kom.
Expressing her appreciation on the initiative undertaken by Artemis hospitals, Mary Kom stated: "I am not here to speak about the biopic on my life but to enlighten everyone about the power and strength that we women posses. I have collaborated with Artemis hospitals as they are an efficient multi speciality health care provider."
"Women are backbone of the society, they act multiple roles everyday, right from taking care of their families to supporting them emotionally and financially. The whole cycle, they majorly forget to take care of themselves. Women should not forget that they are the creatures, caretakers, fighters and winners in every aspect of their lives," she said.
