Keralites in large numbers come to Mangalore to study here. Because parents in Kerala do not believe that the atmosphere in Kerala colleges is not conducive for studies, due to high degree of politicization, frequent strikes, untimely exams and results etc. which take a toll on the student. Does any Kannadiga/ Tuluva go to Kerala for studies?? Let's be proud that Mangalore has better and superior infrastructure and facilities which attract people from the other states.
Then.. when they come in huge numbers, they celebrate their festival. Interesting fact is that though traditionally Onam happens to be a Hindu Festival, in Mangalore colleges we see children participating irrespective of religion.

Why should colleges in Mangalore celebrate Onam so enthusiastically? Do the Kerala colleges ever celebrate Tuluva and Kannada festivals? Why are Mangaloreans excited about Malayali culture?
