Moodbidri, Sep 1: Vanishree K S (25) commerce department lecturer of a PU college here committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling home of her rented room in Gandhinagar here on Saturday August 30. It is gathered that she had been distraught after a man she was in love with ended his life a few days ago.
Vanishree, only daughter of Krishnaraj, an agriculturist from Alangar near Kadaba in Puttur taluk, had been appointed as lecturer in Alva's PU College here two months back. She stayed as paying guest in Rose Doll Apartment in Gandhinagar, along with three girl students. As two of her roommates were on a visit to their native places on account of Vinayaka Chaturthi festival, Vanishree and a student stayed in the rented accommodation for the time being.
Vanishree, it is learnt, returned to her room early on Saturday from college, after getting permission from the concerned, citing ill health. When her roommate returned home at around 4 pm and tried to open the door, she found that the door had been bolted from inside. She called out Vanishree's name besides calling her cell phone number, but did not get any response. The efforts made by neighbours to open the door too failed.
After the policemen were told about the incident, they came on the scene, and broke open the door with the help of some locals at around 6 pm. They found that Vanishree's body was hanging from the end of her sari that had been tied to the ceiling fan.
In a death note, Vanishree said that her lover, Suprasanna, had died some days ago, and that having been unable to live without his company, she had decided to die. She also requested her cremation to be conducted at the spot where her lover's body was consigned to flames. Although she also mentioned the cell phone number of her father at the end of this note, the policemen are yet to establish the identity of Suprasanna, where was he, what was he doing, why he committed suicide, etc.
