Goa governor urged to intervene over ‘financial crisis’

Panaji, Aug 26 (TNN): The Congress Pradesh Congress Committee passed a resolution urging the governor to intervene and ensure that the state does not slip into financial crisis.

"The financial status of Goa is not good. There can be a financial emergency in the state as the government is borrowing money on bonds. A resolution has been passed requesting the governor to give proper direction to the government to change the leadership of the state," said GPCC president John Fernandes.

"Parrikar had promised zero tolerance to corruption and after two-and-half-years he is saying that there is rampant corruption. If the governor cannot find a proper alternative for the leadership in the state, the President's rule should be imposed," he said.

Fernandes said that the CM should have used the forum of the assembly to reply to the chargesheet given by the Congress with regards to the BJP government's performance in two-and-half-years. GPCC also condemned the statement made by Parrikar on Independence Day that the UPA government did not allow him to work for two and half years.
