Annual meet of Karnataka Sangha Kalyan (R) held

Mumbai, Aug 25: Celebration of the 68th Independence day and annual friendly meet by Karnataka Sangha Kalyan (R) was held recently at Kalyana Brahmin Auditorium, Murbad road.

Primarily, the members and their children sang patriotic songs; a one act play of Bharata Maate and a traditional folk dance were performed.

After the one hour programme, benefactor and advisor of the organisation Bhaskar N Shetty, founder president Nanda Shetti, president T S Upadhyaya, vice-president Gopal S Hegde, Ahalya R Shetty, Darshana Sonakar, Nuthana Hegde and the members joined together and inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp.

T S Upadhyaya introduced the guests; educational and sahitya chairman K N Satish and Ajith Deshmukh felicitated the SSC and HSC graduates on the occasion.

Kulakarni of Hindu Jagarana Samiti, in his speech said, "Everyone should love their country and should become an example to everyone."

Hottelier Prashanth, Vaibhav hotel owner Bhoja Shetty, Prabhakar Shirod celebrated their 70th birthday, Lion Sridhar Shetty's 75th, 80th birthday of Vagannavar was celebrated on the occasion.

Bhaskar S Shetty honoured these people with a shawl and flowers.

Senior members of the organisation G N Bhat, Dr Dinesh Rao, Dr Jayashree, Rama Murthy, Manjula, Karmata Krishna, Vinoda Nayak, Manohara Minajola and others were also present at the occasion.

Githa Poojari, Prashanthi Shetty and Shashikala S Poojari proposed the vote of thanks.
