Mumbai, Sep 6: Lalbaug cha raja, the Ganesha at one of Mumbai's five biggest mandals, sets out for immersion on Wednesday.

All over Mumbai, on the final day of Ganeshotsav, Ganpatis will be taken for visarjan (immersion), amid much celebration. Security arrangements have been tightened across the city.
The pomp and glory of the procession of the elephant god of Lalbaug, or ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ is perhaps the grandest spectacle of all and in line with tradition, the immersion of ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ brings the curtains down on the Ganeshotsav celebrations.
The grandest processions often resemble a sea of humanity, moving very slowly towards the ocean, with drumbeats and dancing, and chants of ‘ Ganpati bappa morya, pudchya varshi lavkar ya ’ (Lord Ganesha, come back soon next year)
