Mumbai, Sep 5: Man’s survival instinct can, at times, translate into barbaric, inhuman activity. And this came to the fore when Charkop Police arrested one for brutally murdering four members of a family on Monday, including two innocent children. Two accomplices of the arrested man are still absconding.
Karan Nirmal, 32, had been residing in Mumbai for four years and was involved in the laundry business and used to bring readymade garments from garment units and used to iron and pack them. According to police Karan Nirmal, his wife Neetu, 29, their daughter Asmita, 4 and son Ravi, 5, were found dead at their residence in Omkar Society, Ekta Nagar Charkop. It is believed that all were killed on Sunday.
Police said that Kamal Kannojia, 24, Rajiv, 20, Rajkumar Bahua, 23, were working as labourers at Karan’s laundry and had recently been sacked by him. In order to avenge the sacking they did the entire family to death. While police have arrested Kamal Kannojia, the other two are still absconding and police are looking out for them.
Police said husband and wife were killed by crushing their heads with a pestle stone and were later strangulated. Their son’s hands and legs were tied after which he was hanged by the ceiling fan and their daughter Asmita’s face was dunked into a bucket of water.
Additional Commissioner of North Region Tukaram A Chavan said, “This is purely a case of revenge. When we detained Kamal he said that he and his friends used to be insulted by the Nirmal family and sometimes his wife too insulted them. He was working with them for three years. Last year, he left the job after being humiliated repeatedly. A year later he joined back but the taunts and insults continued. Recently he was sacked along with his friends after which they were unemployed. In a fit of rage they killed the entire family.”
