Mumbai, Sep 4: A meeting to discuss the establishment of ‘Konkani Gaunv’ at Shaktinagar at Mangalore, by the World Konkani Centre, was held at Andheri here, on Saturday September 2.

K K Pai, president, Konkani Bhas ani Sanskruti Pratishtan and Dr T M A Pai Foundation, presided over the meeting. Vincent Mathias, working president, Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, was present as the chief guest.

S V Pikle, president, Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Mumbai, J B Sequeira, Sahitya Academy Award recipient, John D’Silva, president, Fuddar Prathistan, J B Moraes, working president, Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra (R), Henry Lobo, working president, Prima Offset Pvt Ltd, P N Shanbaug, working president, The North Canara G S B Cooperative Bank Ltd, businessman G V Masoorkar, N N Pal, chief manager, Corporation Bank Mumbai branch,  V P Baliga,  vice-president, Jet Airways and Sadananda D Nayak, working president, The R S Cooperative Bank Ltd, were present as guests of honour. 

Basti Vaman Shenoy, president, Konkani Bhas ani Sanskruti Prathistan, welcomed the gathering and detailed on the construction of the World Konkani Centre, through a slide show. Venkatesh Baliga, secretary, compered the meet and Jagdeesh Shenoy, treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks.

N N Pal of Corporation Bank, released a special copy of  ‘Kutam Konkani Weekly’, in which J B Sequeira has rendered details about the setting up of the World Konkani Centre.
