Doha, Aug 31: On the 25th of August, Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) conducted the first 7-A side cricket tournament for men (7 Overs match). This tournament was open to all Mangaloreans.   In all, 7 teams participated in this inaugural tournament namely, DPI Advertising, M.Pallonji, Tulu Koota, Mangalore Friends, Mangalore Mallige, Konkan Stars & MCC.

In the 1st match, DPI Advertising won against MCC team by 1 wicket.  In the 2nd match, Mangalore Mallige defeated the Konkan Stars by 30 runs.  In the 3rd match, Mangalore Friends were defeated by Tulu Koota by a margin of 27 runs.

With these 3 matches the league matches came to an end. The semi-final line-up was as follows:
M. Pallonji v/s Mangalore Mallige
DPI Advertising v/s. Tulu Koota.

In the 1st semi-final, Mangalore Mallige handed M. Pallonji a walk-over. In the 2nd semi-final, DPI
Advertising defeated Tulu Koota by a small margin of 12 runs.

In the finals, Pallonji defeated DPI Advertising by 4 wickets. Pallonji, playing just their first match of the tournament, showed no sign of rustiness as they restricted DPI at 76 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 7 overs.  Batting second, Pallonji chased the target with an over to spare.

M. Pallonji were declared the winners of the inaugural MCC cricket tournament.
