Chennai, Aug 8 (IANS): Siddharth's latest Tamil release "Jigarthanda" has helped him score a hat-trick of hits following "Udhayam NH4" and "Theeya Vela Seiyanum Kumaru". He says "Jigarthanda" has received a cult status.
The movie, which opened in cinemas Aug 1, has collected Rs.9.7 crore in its opening week in Tamil Nadu. The film has done good business overseas as well.
"Siddharth has delivered a third hit in a row in Tamil. 'Jigarthanda' has grossed Rs.9.7 crore in the first week in Tamil Nadu. It's doing extremely well overseas too. It's on its way to become a blockbuster," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
Following the rousing response in the south, the film opened in cinemas in Mumbai Friday.
Siddharth, who is overwhelmed with the response, feels "Jigarthanda" has attained a "cult status".
"My phone keeps ringing. Haven't seen this kind of cult status since RDB ('Rang De Basanti'). Thank you @karthiksubbaraj for letting me support your vision. Been saying this film will be epic for a long time. @karthiksubbaraj is a gift. Cinema will treasure him always. As will we! #Jigarthanda," Siddharth had posted on his Twitter page recently.
He is currently awaiting the release of Tamil films "Kaaviya Thalaivan" and "Lucia".
