Bangalore, Aug 7: Taking a tough decision on the corruption charges in the recruitment by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for 362 posts of gazetted probationers of Group A and B, recruitees belonging to the 2011 batch as per the final list announced on March 21, 2014 have been rejected by the State Government.

A Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah discussed the issue of the final list submitted to the government by the KPSC in detail and unanimously rejected it in total.

The State Cabinet has decided issue new advertisement to hold the examination. It has decided to grant age relaxation to all candidates to reappear the examination.

Over one lakh candidates wrote the examination about two years ago.

Briefing reporters on the decisions of the State Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday, Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the Cabinet has rejected the list following rampant corruption in the selection of candidates by the KPSC.

Terming the decision to reject the KPSC recruitments as ''historic,’’the minister said the State Government has decided not to support corruption in the recruitment of gazetted posts.

''The Government is convinced about the seriousness of the issue. The State Cabinet is fully convinced. It is beyond doubt that corruption has happened and we don’t want to encourage corruption," he said.

In future, the examination would be conducted as per the P CHota committee recommendations accepted by the Government last year.

Apart from filling 362 posts, applications would be invited for filling more vacancies.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had conducted a probe and submitted 26 voluminous reports to the Government highlighting malpractices in the examination system conducted by the KPSC.

The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on July 2 vacated the stay on the final list announced by the KPSC.

The State Government has filed criminal cases against KPSC members, including former Chairperson Gonal Bhimappa.

KPSC member Mangala Sridhar has been suspended on charges of corruption by former Governor H R Bhardwaj.

''Prosecution of other members is also pending before the Government," the minister said.

Following discrepancies in the allotment of marks during interviews, the State Government has told the KPSC to conduct re-evaluation and interviews again.

But the KPSC rejected the Government’s suggestions on the ground that it is a constitutional body, he contended.

This had started in 2011. Many from this may have paid bribe heavily.
For a post in Revenue, candidates have to shell out 1.5 crore and the others from 30 lacs to 1 crore.
We talk about corruptions in Govt.
If this the state where each one has to shell out the above minimum amounts and not sure of getting a posting quickly, what anyone can expect from these officials except to try and make AT LEAST (minimum) 10 times more, when they get a posting, than what they paid a few years back...!!!!
It is not people themselves becoming corrupt by choice. Governments in States and in the center making people corrupt by each one in higher up trying to squeeze out from lower categories and that infects the lower order too later on.
To become Minister, candidate has to shell out, like one punjab MLA said, 100 crores and above. Is that Minister crazy to pay that much if he cannot make minimum 10 times more?
As long as the Judiciary is not cleaned up first, no improvement can take place as the corrupt people will not be punished.
Poor aspirants have already shelled out so much and not sure what is their fate.....

This is a Justified decision by the State government. I am damn sure those candidates are crying because they lost the money they paid as bribe to get ed.
Few years ago when i finished my college, even i tried to write these competitive exams to get into government sector. In the process i have seen so many government officials ing candidates after getting paid with huge bribe money(in lakhs)
I did not want to get ed by paying bribe and then try to recover that amount from poor people while in service.
So i joined corporate IT sector and i am earning well, no corruption no drama.

well done. Re-examination is good. But can state government ban candidates who paid bribe, re-appearing for the examination. Please keep them away from civil service. Then only we can applaud for Karnataka govt. Thanks!

Good decision by the Congress Government in Karnataka.

Hope a tag on Karnataka the most corrupt state in India during BJP rule and now I congratulate Honorable Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and former Governor H.R. Bhardwaraj for their stern orders to conduct the KPSC examinations once again.

Under BJP's rule KPSC candidates have corrupted the bjp leaders.

A feather on the Cap of Congress Government in Karnataka.

    The Congress cabinet has Guts.
BJP has only to burn cigarette Buts.
