Mangalore, Aug 7: A youngster died in an accident at Suratkal here on Thursday August 7, after his bike skid while trying to avoid hitting a dog.
The deceased has been identified as Vineeth (22), a resident of Jokatte. He was an employee of MRPL.
It is said that Vineeth was riding in his bike towards MRPL, when, at Kana, all of a sudden a dog came in his way. To avoid hitting the dog, Vineeth veered to the side and in the process, his bike skid and he fell on to the road. It is said that he died on the spot.
Son of Manjunath, Vineeth was a native of Chikmagalur. He had joined MRPL about a year ago.
It is said that he had bought the bike just a week ago and was yet to get it registered. He had not told his family yet about it as he wanted to surprise them, sources said.
Eyewitnesses said that he was speeding and not wearing helmet. He sustained serious injuries on his head.
Suratkal traffic police have registered a case.
