Fortresses, armour inspire Urvashi Joneja's LFW theme

Mumbai, Aug 5 (IANS): Designer Urvashi Joneja is set to showcase a collection titled “Guarded” that takes inspiration from fortresses and armour at the forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2014.

“My collection is inspired by guards that we build around ourselves which makes us unable to connect with others emotionally or even understand their sentiments. We come across such people in our daily life; we have also been one of them. Through my designs I am going to help people break away from the guarded wall and embrace their feelings,” Joneja said in a statement.

The collection portrays real-life situations and emotions like deception through print, toil through braiding, comfort though drapes and strength through structure.

Joneja has used versions of repetitive geometric prints in monochrome and shades of red, burnt orange and purple against black, with gold as an accent. The primary fabrics used are georgette, crepe and raw silk, with faux leather accents.

LFW 2014 is scheduled to take place from Aug 20 to Aug 24 at Palladium hotel here.
