Russians top Goa's tourist arrivals in 2014


Panaji, Aug 5 (IANS): Over 79,000 Russian tourists landed in Goa in the first half of 2014, followed by the British (70,351), according to statistics tabled in the state legislative assembly Tuesday.

In his written reply tabled Tuesday, Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar also said that 251,789 foreign tourists arrived in Goa from January to June this year.

"On an average," Parulekar said, "a foreign tourist's stay in Goa is about nine days."

The reply also states that tourists from over 30 states landed in Goa, a top beach tourism destination in India, which includes Germany (20,245), Finland (10,727), France (9,420) and Switzerland (6,657).
