Kundapur/Udupi, Aug 5: BJP state Raita Morcha on Monday August 4 gheraoed Mescom office in Byndoor opposing unscheduled load shedding and demanding three phase electricity in the rural areas.
Deepak Kumar Shetty, vice-president of BJP state Raita Morcha, who led the protests said that the government had promised to provide electricity for all the 24 hours in the day and cheated the farmers by resorting to unscheduled load shedding and not providing three phase power.
"The situation is such that farmers have to pay exorbitant rates for diesel to run their pump sets and water their agricultural land. The state government has died and not concerned about farmers. The government is discriminating in distribution of power and giving priority to the urban areas. This is only a symbolic protest and if the government does not provide adequate power for the villages, and three phase power for at least eight hours in the day, we will be intensifying the protests," he warned.
Zilla panchayat member Gouri Devadiga, Byndoor BJP president B M Sukumara Shetty, district secretary B S Suresh Shetty, Gururaja Gantihole, Sadananda Uppinakudru, Women's Morcha president Nayana Shanbhog, Ananda Kharvi, Suresh Bijooru, Rajendra S and others were present. An appeal was submitted to Siddesh, assistant engineer of Mescom after the protests.

Bantwal, Aug 5: Bantwal block BJP committee and Raitha Morcha held a joint protest in front of Mescom office in BC Road on Monday, August 4 condemning what they termed irregular load shedding, anti-farmer policies of the state government and urging the concerned to fulfill their various demands relating to supply of electricity.
The protesters who took out a procession from B C Road main road till Mescom office at Kaikunje later held a protest meeting in front of Mescom office.
The protesters demanded that irregular load shedding be stopped, three phase power be supplied for at least eight hours in a day, new transformers be installed instead of burnt out and spoiled transformers, electricity to the pump sets of farmers without delay, legitimacy to illegal pump sets and steps to do away with scarcity of linemen.
Former MLA Padmanabha Kothary, state BJP Vice President Sulochana Bhat and Bantwal block BJP Committee President G Ananda spoke addressing the protesters.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to Mescom official Umeshchandra highlighting the problems of unscheduled load shedding in Bantwal, unauthorized supply of electricity from town feeder to rural feeder and several other problems with regard to electricity and requested Mescom to set them right.

Mangalore, Aug 5: BJP Raita Morcha protested against Mescom condemning inadequate power supply, unscheduled load shedding and anti-farmer policies in the state.
As the start of the protests, they gheraoed Mescom office at Ullal on Monday, August 4.
