Mangalore, Aug 4: 'Ruchik Randap' 2014 edition, published by Commodore Cyril D Pereira (retd), son of the late R J Pereira in memory of his departed parents, was released on Sunday August 3 at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here.

The book's release had earlier been planned on August 10 on the occasion of Pereira's mother Rosie Susanna Pereira's birth centenary which falls on August 11, but sadly she passed away in May this year. The book costs Rs 120.

Celine Nazareth released the book in the presence of Louis Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann, Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann and Konkani writer Charles D'Souza.

Celine Nazareth, representing the closest relative of the late Rosie Pereira addressed the gathering and gave details of the book's history.

The original book of authentic Mangalorean cooking recipes assembled by I J S Pinto of Martha's Home Industries was first published by proprietor of R J Pereira and Sons, Marble Works and Religious Art Works, Milagres in March 17, 1947.

"The book was popular in Manglore and abroad, but due to the collapse of the building they lost all the copies of the book. The book was sold by other people in their brand name. I am happy to launch the book which has over 300 recipes and I hope it will help people. I pray for the grand success of the book in the market," she said.

Arun Raj Rodrigues compered the ceromony.

Mr.Pereira, do you have an English translated version of this book ? Many of our people residing in Mumbai / Bangalore / Chennai / Delhi / Kolkota / US / Canada / UK may not be able to read Konkani / Kannada. Anyway my best wishes to your new edition.

The love for traditional Mangalore Catholic recipes is actually when you reside out of Mangalore. We crave for our own Mangalore dishes rather than fast food which today's children relish. I hope the English translated edition will be printed at the earliest. Mr.Pereira, I wish you the very best.Congratulations on your latest konkani edition.
