Mangalore, Aug 3: The Barke police on Sunday August 3 'raided' a prayer house at Mannagudda, after a caller claimed that conversion was going on there.

The police said that the caller did not reveal his identity.

The house in question belongs to one Shashiraj. He had given it to on rent to Dolphy, who has been conducting prayer meets in the house. People often gather at the house for prayer meets, it is said.

The police arrived at the house, and on inspection, found that the anonymous caller's claims were false and no conversion activity had taken place in the prayer house.

Police sources said that a married Catholic woman who was childless for four years had conceived after offering prayers, and when the police arrived at the house, a prayer meet was going on as a mark of gratitude.

After confirming that nothing untoward was going on at the house, the police left the spot.

Ahmed, good numbers, now you see how Christianity and Islam multiply like rabbits. This is no longer about God or love, it is just a number game, with religion comes religious law and ultimate control of a few on top. I am not sure why no one see's it that way. This is not specific to one religion but any organized religion or belief ( hindu's included) that enforces itself on others need to be stopped.
If you see the timeline of these religions, the medieval period ie the time where conversion was at it's height both via the crusades ( ordered by the pope ) and the sword of Allah. Arabs got converted into Islam at this period. 500 years prior to that ( 300 - 100 BC ) Babylon, Bactria all of them were Greek / Zoroastrian and today they are literally wiped out by the latest religion.

A number of comments here are questioning 'conversion' like they don't know what it means. It is nice to roll over like a puppy when this topic is brought up but we need to have an educated look.
Forcible conversion is not the actual act of using force. It is the mindset of the people engaged in activities where the main goal is to get people to convert and this is done by having prayer groups, constant engagement with the 'victims' ( people who are targeted as a potential for conversion ). There is a method to it and it and is backed by bigger entities who sit in the background and direct resources accordingly.
With the news media and education, people are not easily fooled anymore.

They are filled with black hearts and jealousy written all over their faces even they look at you their eyes speak volumes of hatred. Let's pray for these people.they are never going to change. . Mr jeevan loud and clear we hear to stop forceful conversion.but there is a difference if a person chooses what religion he wants to practice. Let him be of upper class or lower class . Nobody has the right to tell them wat to chose and to whom to pray get that fact straight first.then be loud and clear.

    @ John , UAE.

Many thanks for your comments John.
While I said things with a humor, I'm still worried at the height of stupidity of the person who gave a hoax call, and at the same time brainless police swung into action without any warrant etc. and disturbed the peace of our Christian folks.

Both the caller and the police need to be penalized for their stupidity.

We Christians need to pray more and more, giving the times we are passing in our country at the moment, and the wider world in general.

We need to gather more often in our homes, public places, places of work, business, schools, hospitals, churches, clubs etc. to pray so that God will heal our nation.

    regards.

I have never read about the inquisition in Goa and I don't clearly know the facts about it. So i cannot comment on that. Well I will go through it. People want change. Allow them to live their life. End of the day, when every thing becomes normal and settles in one's life, they will come back to the roots. This is life.

Instead of having negative mind about conversion work hard and evening time enjoy 2 peg of spirit and beef sukka, pork roast, chicken sukka and have a good sleep. This is the way, I look at my life. If this appeals, follow it.

With all due respect.... Please don't play your foul divide and rule policies with Christians.... We may b from different sects but we are Christians and we have one God Jesus Christ... And i agree that insulting other religions is outrageous and unacceptable... But our constitution gives us the provision to follow, practice and preach our religion... And if by any means one can be converted to Christianity by money then he is not at all a christian because tomorrow he might jump to follow another religion for money.... A man doesn't become a christian by chance but choice... And i believe its the same with other religions as well... Forceful conversion is not a valid concept in Christianity because an individual has to receive Jesus Christ in his heart personally to become a christian... And honestly if you find any "forcefully converted christian" kindly show him to me... Let me see how a forcefully converted Christian looks like...

Yes people accept Jesus from theier hearts conversion takes place within themselves. So what you can do about it. kill them, threaten them or force them not to accept Jesus. Calling of Jesus is automatic transformation. The more people hate Jesus touches thier hearts and soul and he will say child you are mine i love you even though you hate my children. So many on this earth accepted Jesus in thier lives and given up wealth to poors and devoted to serve the poor that is what Jesus is about. You wont find such devine in anywhere and any beleifs accept in Jesus. That is why Christians suffer just becasue Jesus suffered, died on the cross exclusively for all of us including you too. How there can be a forceful conversion? No body can be forced to convert. There are few hate mongers who don't have enough faith in their own religion, do cry false every time. No surprise Jeewan is one of them. Conversion is not as easy as land conversion. Did you ever heard Christians any time objected conversion from Christianity to any other religion? We believe that any one want to join a better faith can do so if he is convinced that he is following a right faith. Who are we to stop them? Why these mongers never speak when Christian are converting to other religion? Why they don't stop them? When there is genuine necessity Police will never move from their shell without a written complaint or a proof. But if it's, conversion or Illegal trafficking of live stock they are so quick. Shame shame.

If individual convinced its gods word only then he will convert. If these chaddi are insecure then they should go back to their scripture and start campaign to educate about vedas instead of RSS Book.

    Hahah....

800 years of Moghal Rule and 200 years of British Rule has left this country in shambles and if you go back to history you will know where this country was and how strong this culture was.

The disconnect of it's culture and people is much to do with the last 1000 years of brutality and destruction by those people who invaded INDIA. So i guess it is better not to talk about it's culture and things like that.

I guess the different culture that exist here is much to do with the conversions that happened over the period of time and for people to be attached to it only shows that it is all to do with the mind.

Tomorrow if someone is converted to some other belief system 100 years later his great grand children will follow that particular belief system.

So stop wasting your energies on religion and focus on what best you can give back to this country.

A place of worship is a place where anyboby from any religion is free to pray irrespective of which religion he/she follows. It is our faith that matters.I being a Christian have visited Gurudwara since my best friend was a Punjabi in college have even eaten in the Langar, I have visited many temples in South India, and also have visited mosque with my Muslim friends. I work in Saudi Arabia at present. All this does not make me a less Christian nor it means that I have converted or they have tried to convert etc etc.. The need of the hour is that mentally people should grow out of all these narrow thoughts and be more broad minded in their thinking ..else one day there will be no difference between humans and animals. Also many people have commented about historical evidence that missionaries who came to India converted people..Ok reason why people got converted is also well known to them...So first we have to set our house in order to point fingers at others...

In every religion there are people who bring disrespect and cross the boundaries of true foundation on which it is built. The solution therefore, is not in counter-violence but sincere efforts to bring normality through lawful means. Mud throwing and pointing fingers only increases bitterness and takes us away. It is better to discuss things in a fraternal way and undo the harm which is done by a few. Finally, humaneness must prevail which alone is the purpose of all religions.Hopefully,God is to be found where bridges of oneness are built rather than barriers of separation are erected.

After seeing so many comments/ views/ responses by J, I have a small doubt to say the least that ..., if i am not mistaken it appears that J feel Hindu faith is vulnerable to exploitation, hence without any prejudice I suggest Jeevan to find the reason why the followers of hindu religion is deserting their faith. One thing is loud & clear everyone is free to follow the faith which gives them peace of mind.
I don't believe that anyone is forcibly getting converted into other religion..., after all for what they have to do so...,
In fact, Hindu religion preaches "Ahimsa Paramo Dharma"
It may be noted that based on this very truth "Hinduism withstood all Mogul & British attach for few centuries" and still standing high & mighty across the globe. Instead if we resort violence to protect Hinduism then I doubt any success..., hindus may kill their faith by themselves by destroying their own peace of mind.

Over the years thousands of non-Christians must have studied in our Christian institutes. If anyone among them has got any gratitude kindly come forward and clear the doubts of these morons.

I remember when I was a kid this kind of allegation on Christians was unheard of and Christians had harmony with all other religions. Now some rogues with some ulterior motives have started this kind of allegations.

Now coming to conversion. I am a Christian and I am happy the way I am. Can anybody convert me to other religion against my will? Or if at all I decide to convert to other religion, can anybody stop me? It is as simple as that. You can lead a horse to water but can not make it drink. Then why this hue and cry?

If Christian prayer meetings are going on in some houses within their four walls what is others
problem. Aren't other communities do that? They even do it in public places sometimes ( just the other day we read in papers that authorities even razed a structure illegally built for the purpose). We even see roadside-trees becoming places of worship overnight. Then why this double standard?

If somebody is really affected the affected person should complain and then the police should intervene. Somebody simply calls and the police rush to the scene is utter nonsense. I hope better sense will prevail and there will be an end to such farse.

    Jeevan,

You must stop worrying about making a Christian or Muslim a better of them but must surely concentrate on counseling Hindus.

Let me give you an example - we, a group of families, were assembled in a famous hotel for meals and a newly appointed PR personality happen to do his duty about the quality of food/service and asked for suggestions. In due course he happen to ask one guest's name which he said happens to be his daughter's name too. He started his side of story by describing how his wife and child were so serious at the delivery, how only one of them could be saved, how he happen to be driving in front of a Church at that time and he prayed to Jesus to save both of them. Soon after he received a call to inform him that both were fine. That day happened to be Dec. 25th. He says he visited the Church later on and told the priest about it and asked for a name and the priest told him to name the baby 'Natasha'. He asked for the meaning, the priest told him it means Christmas-Baby.

Well we all nodded in agreement and that was the end of it.

Now, why did he have to bring the matter to us strangers ? Are we to jump up and say 'Praise the Lord' ? Is he indicating us that he is a follower of Jesus Christ ?

I have said this exactly because you need to counsel your religious companions. He could have driven to a temple near-by and asked Lord Shiva, Ganapathi or other deity to come to his help.

Nevertheless, people find no difference in Gods - Only you do. A hypocrite Frog in the Well !

But gentleman, bring to fore ONE FORCIBLE CONVERSION... Don't be a 'Cry-Wolf' After some time, even if such conversions happen to take place, nobody will believe you as it happened in this case !

Police force is there to attend genuine cases - not fake as the caller in this news did. He must be subjected to severe penalty for misusing government services !

Hoax caller did not reveal his identity, DISRUPTED peaceful prayer, intruded in privacy and personal life.
But informing police is 1000 times o.k. than taking law in hand.
At the same time WARNING SHOULD BE GIVEN to some self styled man of God (False prophets in real sense) who take the name of God to fool or misguide people, and cause divisions for their personal gains.
Genuine Prayer surely has its reward, will make one better human, otherwise such prayer is futile or fake.

    Dear Rudolf
You are right in many ways.
Mother Theresa and Stains of Orissa gave up all comforts of life and sacrificed their lives to the most neglected sections of the society. They never call them saints.
I do not say all must be like them.
Leading people to pray, scriptures readings are all fine but I have my own experience. Some call us for prayer, we go in good faith.
But I found them passing judgements gradually that keeping images sinful, praying for departed souls sinful about our festivals and many more.

Need to take stringent action those who conduct prayers in home, there's temple, church, mosque why gathering people in home and conducting prayer. This kind of groups create potential terrorist.

This "conversion" issue is consuming the precious time and energy of the already overburdened police, which could be applied to tackle more serious issues!!

How can anybody force anyone to get converted, one just cannot understand!! And if somebody wants to get converted, for whatever reason, voluntarily, then who has got the right to interfere in it?

Repeated such issues getting highlighted along with that of "moral policing" from various places in DK are further drubbing the district's already beaten down image!!!

Another dirty game by brainwashed khaki chuddies to harrass the christian community.

After congress has come into power in KA its worth noting that that the number of mindless attacks by (Im)moral polie like Bajrangis, senas and Vedikers have reduced. Its obvious that they fear the stringent new laws.

If the state was ruled by bjpee then we would have seen a repeat of Padil homestay attack today.

Conversion is a self right and forcible only is an offense. How then the police came to the site for a self right of a conversion.

Does the caller inform to police about a forcible conversion???!!!

And the news is not updating the caller's claim of forcible conversion.

Without written complaint from the caller how then the police arrived to prayer site.

May be they wanted to catch a terrorist???!!!

Or may be they wanted to disconnect a hidden bomb.

For false information is a deception case of 420.

Dear police File a 420 case against the caller without wasting your time.

ONE TRUTH IS SUFFICIENT TO UNEARTH THOUSANDS OF LIES.

I quote John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free Unquote.

End of the day Mangalore is slowly becoming a Taliban state where there is no freedom for,
    1) Group prayers.

Advisable, first to check\confirm such conversion activity is really going on and then complain.
Such people with "Conversion Phobia" are prone to complaining even when daily prayers inside the private houses are going on.....depends on how much they are brainwashed.
