Mangalore, Aug 3: It was an evening of non-stop entertainment as renowned singer Lancy Moras presented his 7th Musical Nite at Don Bosco hall here on Saturday August 2 evening. The event was organized by Moushmi Creations.
What made the event more special was that it was dedicated to Lancy's mother Cecilia Moras who celebrated her 80th birthday on the occasion.
The evening began with master of ceremony Arun Danthi introducing Lancy Moras to the large number of Konkani enthusiasts who had gathered to enjoy the musical show. Lancy set the mood with the first song 'Tumso Mog' dedictad to his mother.
Apart from the melodious voice of Lancy that rocked the stage, the evening saw superlative performances from other well-known singers like Sangeetha Balachandra, Rony Crasta, Ravindra Prabha, Zeena Pereira, Shobha D'Souza, Vanessa Saldanha, Ashwin D'Costa and Clarita Lobo. The audience were treated to a delightful array of songs like 'Milan Mogachem', 'Thun ye Lagin' and others.
Scintillating dance by Silver Steppers troupe consisting of Gavin, Vaishnavi, Leo, Shrishti, Rahul and Siddharth, beautifully complemented the singing. The dances were choreographed by Gavin Rodrigues. The musical show was interspersed with humorous performances that evoked peals of laughter among the audience.
The popular Murali's Band led by Muralidhar Kamath provided live music for the evening. The orchestra comprised Rajesh and Muralidhar on keyboard, Rajendra on drums, Manoj on bass guitar, trumpet by Nigel, lead guitar by Patson, and violin by Sajith John Milton, Terrel John Milton and Anup Shankar.
Another highlight of the evening was the birthday celebration of Cecilia Moras. Apart from Lancy, his wife Hilda Moras and daughter Moushmi along with several dignitaries joined in as Cecilia Moras cut the birthday cake.
Addressing the gathering, community development officer Irene Rebello congratulated and wished Cecilia Moras and lauded her for given a son like Lancy to society. She stressed on the necessity of women to teach Konkani to their children at a young age so that they contribute to the growth of the language. "I request all mothers to teach Konkani to their children. I too am following the same. We need to have more people like Lancy Moras so that Konkani flourishes," she said, singing a Konkani song dedicated to Lancy's mother.
Earlier in the evening Lancy said that he came to Mangalore specially to celebrate his mother's birthday. "I wanted to celebrate her 80th birthday in Mangalore, hence I took vacation just for her. I thank everyone gathered here for being part of this special moment," he said.
Spot quiz was conducted for the audience and winners were given CDs of Lancy's albums.
Film director Sandeep Malani, Fr Melwyn D'Cunha, parish priest of Bajjodi church, Fr Deep Fernandes of Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Rony Crasta of Moushmi Creations, Freida Moras, Elias Fernandes of Four Winds and others were present.
