Panaji, Aug 20: Hinting at a major reshuffle within the youth congress organization, the Indian Youth congress (IYC) secretary Deepti Vargheese on Sunday said that the organization will change its 14 state heads who are either over aged or have completed their tenure.
Top on the list is Andhra Pradesh, whose youth congress chief Venkat Rao is also a member of legislative assembly, and is busy with his constituency work. "We have a list of probables for Andhra Pradesh and we will soon execute the replacement," Vargheese said talking to mediapersons in Goa.
She said that states like Karnataka are also in the list of reshuffle.
"The reshuffle is mainly because many youth Congress leaders are either over-aged or have completed their terms," she said.
On AP change, she said Rao is already a member of legislative assembly, and hence will have to cater to his constituency. "He is busy working in his constituency so we have decided to bring in new face. The change will be done immediately," she said.
She said that the posts would be filled by nominations and not elections.
Vargheese, who was down in Goa, will be meeting chief minister Pratapsingh Rane during his visit. "We will demand that during ensuing state legislative assembly elections, maximum tickets should be given to the young candidates," she said adding,"no specific quota would be sought but there is a thinking amongst youth congress is that those who have completed three tenures as MLA should take up party organizational work."
About Goa, Vargheese said: though youth congress leadership change is due in the state, status quo is maintained considering the ensuing state legislative assembly elections
