Kasargod, Jul 30: The body of a four-year-old boy who was missing for the last two days, was found in Perumbala river here on the night of Tuesday July 29.
The deceased boy is identified as Mohammed Saiban (4), son of Abdul Latif, a resident near Juma Masjid in Thekkil here.
The boy went missing on Monday July 28. It is said that he was playing in the verandah of the house before he went missing. He could not be traced even after extensive search in the vicinity. There were fears that he might have been kidnapped. A complaint was lodged in Vidyanagar police station.
The boy's family, locals, police and fire brigade personnel had searched for him in the houses of relatives and surrounding areas including Thekkil Chandragiri river, nearby wells and other water bodies, but to no avail.
On Tuesday night, the locals found the body in Chadragiri river. The incident has given rise to several suspicions. The cause of the death will be known only after the post-mortem report is out, police said.
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
