Panaji, July 30 (TNN): Claiming that an anti-black magic bill would force the devout population to give up their religious rituals and practices, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) recently submitted an appeal to Goa chief minister-cum-law minister Manohar Parrikar urging him not to pass the bill.
Terming the bill passed by the Maharashtra government, on the insistence of anti-superstition NGO Andhashradha Nirmulan Samiti, as "anti-Hindu", HJS Goa coordinator Manoj Solanki said, "This bill is terrible as all offences covered are cognizable and non-bailable. The bill restricts people from practicing dharma, and since there are no incidents of black magic or human sacrifice in Goa, it is not necessary (in this state)."
