Udupi, Jul 26: Tributes were paid to martyrs who fought during the Indo-Pak Kargil war at a ceremony organized by the district BJP Yuva Morcha on Saturday July 26 at Martyrs' Memorial near Ajjarkad to commemorate the 15th Vijay Diwas.
Shobha Karandlaje offered wreaths and paid tributes and said that the defence force should be utilized in a proper manner. "There is a need to strengthen our army and protect our nation from external attacks. It is our duty to respect our soldiers who protect our border," she said.
She also stressed that the government should convert military transportation routes from mud roads to concrete roads.
In answer to questions by the media in connection to the increasing number of sexual crimes against women, she said that there is an urgency to present a strong proposal in the Legislative Assembly to form trained groups to prevent such cases and to take immediate action towards restructuring the court of law.
She condemned home minister K J George for failuer to check crimes against women. She demanded the immediate resignation of K J George and urged the government to strengthen law and order.
Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, district BJP president, Yashapal Suvarna, Geetanjali Suvarna, Gilbert and Chandrashekar Suvarna, ex-servicemen, Geetha Kundar and others were present.
