Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 24: A thief who gained entry into the Milagres Our Lady of Miracles Church office at 10.20 pm on Wednesday July 23, made good his escape after collecting cash amounting to around Rs 1.5 lac from the three cash boxes found inside.

Closed circuit television footages showed that the stranger, who had covered his face with cloth, entered the church premises from the backside. It is being guessed that he would have approached the building from the direction of the graveyard there. He cut through the window rods of the office and forced himself in.

The footages showed that before coming into the office, the thief stood near the toilet for sometime.

The theft came to light when the concerned opened the premises on Thursday July 23 morning.  It was discovered that the thief had left behind a key.

A complaint stands filed in this respect at Pandeshwar police station. Finger print experts visited the spot.

The humor side of the responses I enjoyed very much. This thief must steal regularly once a month from different churches give to the deserving. This way a great favor will be done by making the priest more accountable for money and for the laity a joke for their church collection donation.

It is unfortunate that a thief decamps with Church money. The money from any religious body should never be touched.

Of course money from anywhere should not be stolen.

We have good police force in Mangalore and I hope the culprit will be brought to book without much delay.

I have no hesitation in stating that the robber is some one who knows the topography of the place.

There is an old saying 'PRECAUTION IS BETTER THAN THE CURE'. Let us therefor be cautious in future and not make it is easy for the culprit by leaving the keys of the cash box at any accessible place.

On going through some of the comments am deeply hurt and do not understand how ignorant people are! They think Church, temple or other places of worship have only donation boxes. Don't you think there is a office and there are other activities and business of the concerned temple? I have no complaint about people of other religion but, feel sorry for our own christian brotheren the way they commented which has no sense. Better understand and know the issue before commenting anything and everything. Some have hidden their identity even while passing such remarks. May God bless them all with some wisdom so that in future they should think twice before any comment.

Do you know how much charity work happens with that money?

Do you know which organization is the largest donor for charity work?

How much money do you normally keep at your house in case of emergency?

The church is so big and it has the school and the hall to manage. Don't you think it needs cash in case of any emergency?

Don't you manage your accounts at the end of the day? Why can't the church do the same?

Just before typing something think and make sure you are right.

As once you leave an arrow you wont be able to get it back.

Obviously, thieves, criminals have no religion. If they believed in God they would not have thought about committing any such crime.
Problem starts by chance if they belong to a different community and people forget the above truth and start blaming whole community, their religion and start mistrusting the whole community.

    @ Dear Bryan....
The 'Kalasha' at the top of Sri Annappa Daiva's Temple at a very very sacred place In D.K. is now that of Steel Or Copper. Initially it used to be of Gold. Yes Gold! And it was robbed by some schemers by would you believe it by praying in advance and telling the Lord of their ploy! They could go scot free even after they were caught , because they had gotten a 'boon' in advance! You can check the facts any time! This place anybody will tell you. The story if you hear in detail is surely going to give you goosebumps. The 'Kalasha' since then has been changed to that of copper or steel.
So much for the true story.
Now,about going to the Church is okay. However, telling Lord Jesus to have CCTV and a German Shepard dog is just beyond me.Who am I?
You want him to think I am crazy?

Now I am honestly telling this...
In days of yore even thieves were sit scared of robbing holy places.
Some never dared to set foot ain prominent places of worship. In some places where they thought the 'deity' was kind , they would show their skill without fear of any repercussions. This God would let us go away ...they would think!
I have heard stories of even robbers praying to the concerned deity that they would rob his place and that HE should see to it that he would escape scot free!
Similarly here the thief might have thought:
    'Lord Jesus is all forgiving.
He might forgive this blemish on my part'!
What times we live in really! Inexplicable!!
In any case at a glance looks like an 'insider job'..Does it not? No? My hunch that's all...

Don't under estimate the power of a robber. A robber always thinks of how to rob and deceive. He does not don any other garb. So we hear in days of yore, stories about robbers having change of hearts being saints and all that.
Now it's other way round. Thieves are in the garb of saints. There is absolutely no chance of 'chage of heart' here. In the name of saint hood they loot. Is it not?
Look at the God men of nowadays...
One or other scandal forever following them....
