Bangalore, Jul 23: In yet another embarrassment to the Congress state government, minister for minority welfare, Haj and Wakf Qamar-ul Islam and an MLA were found taking a nap during the Assembly session on Tuesday July 22.
Qamar-ul was caught napping when the members of the Assembly were busy discussing the issue about Goan destitutes in Karnataka.
Basavaraj Horatti, who raised the issue of Goans, noticed the minister sleeping and said, "The minister is sleeping soundly while we are discussing such a serious issue. If he wants to sleep let him go home."
Qamar-ul Islam defended himself and said he was not sleeping, but Horatti was not convinced.
Not only Qamar-ul Islam, the House also saw MLA Dr AB Malaka Reddy royally napping even as the session was in progress.
Recently, chief minister Siddaramaiah drew much flak from all quarters after he was caught on television dozing off during a discussion on sexual crimes. The CM however insisted that he was listening to the debate attentitively and not sleeping.
