Pejawar Swamiji meets Modi, asks not to use agri land for industries

New Delhi, Jul 23 (DHNS): Pejawar Math pontiff Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday and urged him to not set up any industry on fertile agricultural land.

Terming it a courtesy call, the Swamiji told the media that he had requested Modi that industries should come up only in barren land.

Citing the example of the proposed special economic zone in the Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, where farmers are protesting the acquisition of land, the Swamiji said that projects should not take away the livelihood of people.

He said he had also requested the prime minister not to set up industries that were harmful to environment.

He said Modi had responded positively to his request and had also promised that the government would not acquire farmland for industries.

Sri Sri Pejawar swamy is appreciated for his effort to safeguard the Eco sensitive region like undivided southcanara..the question lies on how the capitalist supportive PM will react and agree to the issue. No doubt the southcanara's most influential person like Sri Pejawar swamis request noted with par priority. He is the only person has the personal clout in PMO office (except Dharmadikari Heggade and NV Hegde). I have been told he has appointment less access to PMO.

I will tell you one thing. Industries must be set up in the dry areas of the Karnataka and Mangalore port must be developed and those dry areas and Mangalore must be linked with Trains and better roads.Mangalore/Udupi is a traders hub.

For the attention of Italian Congress chamchaas:
Please read the 2 news item down this news in this web portal on the same subject of using agri land for Indl use.Siddu govt in Karnataka has is going to enact new law to facilitate quicker convertuon of agri land proposed to be used to Indl, housing projects and other commercial uses. There our graet commentator from Amchi Mumbai has a different perception on the same matter and here a different based on his political inclination.
Using agri land for idl, other commercial uses indiscriminately will be detrimental for the country in the long run and not at all in the interest of agri sector or farmers.
Global warning is that the present senario about employemnt, indl production, agri production is going to be effected severaly in view of high rate recession forseen in the near future probably ny next year end.US is managing on fake economy and suffering from production on indl.agri and other sectors beside unemployment.IT sector is hign foreign exchange earner likely to be effected severaly due to collpse of Us economy.US is already has employment problem only 10% is really well employed and about 18-20 % is under employed.Pejawar Swamiji's concern is genuine though he is not an economist has common sense in abundence unlike our unscrupulous politicians.

Yes I agree that agricultural land should be used usefully to supply to the needs of the people and also to run the farmer's family....
I have the highest regard for the seers and mutts, who have taken up various developmental work... The Great Centurion Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt has been instrumental rather the only cause for people to know of a place called Tumkur... He has done to Tumkur what no Govt. has done... Schools, Colleges, Cooperative societies, hospitals and a long list.
Take the eg. of the Late Balagangadhar Swamiji of Adichinchungiri Mutt... He has contributed to society through Educational Universities and Hospitals.... In fact free education is provided to the needy...
Take the eg. of the Suttur Mutt of Mysore. They run the JSS institutions and have done vast contributions in the field of education....
The Dhramastala Dharmathikari Veerendra Heggade-ji has adopted villages and has done so much for the welfare of society...
In comparison to the above people, without hurting anybody's sentiments, I question the Pejawar seer on what has been his contribution to agriculture or farming in particular or to society in general ??? What steps has he taken to help farmers?? Is he expecting to keep barren land as it is ??? He only comes in the way of development or any improvisation schemes, in the name of agriculture, pollution, that and this....
My humble request to the Swamiji is, since he has all the resources and capability let him take up developmental work to help society or let him not come in way of others who want to do so....

I really respected the swamiji for his good gestures every time. He fights for people and has many times worked alongside them.

We have really forgot words like farming, ploughing nowadays. If these continue what will we eat in near future. Pls stop all this conversion of agri land to industrial lands and stop this inflation.

    Change the agricultural concept.
Create agricultural industry. In this industry use innovative technics and machineries to increase the output so that farmer earns a good amount of money.
In schools and colleges create interest in agricultural subjects. Create a separate subject called agricultural engineering.
By doing this we can increase the agricultural output and we do not have to import food from outside. Rather we will start exporting food.
Now we will say there is shortage of water in India. How farmers can survive?
I say that there in enough water resources but we do not know how to manage our water resources. Millions and millions liter of water goes into sea as a waste. We need to think how we can use it efficiently because sea does not require any additional water.

We can not tilt one side and neglect the other. Proper balancing is necessary to achieve equilibrium.

Well done Swamiji. Good and timely advice to PM and appreciate your efforts. You must be knowing real pain of the farmers. India can still develop if the farming methods are improved and create international market for our agricultural products.

It seems you have confused between party and government. Modi is PM, not BJP President.

If Swamiji meets Amit Shah or Sonia Gandhi or Prakash Karat, then you can say politics. But not when he meets Modi or Sidhdhu.

Even Apartments, residential colonies, large Township planning in fertile lands has to be stopped.
These lands have to be kept aside for large Gardens, Parks etc like Pilikula for everyone including birds and animals to come and enjoy. For this Govt has to set aside lands location wise for development of clean n green environment.

Respected Pejavar Mutt Swamiji is 100% correct. No agriculture land should be given to any industry purpose. Only bad land, stone land or sand land shall be given to industries.
During 1920 when US city Detroit was shining like anything now it is no where. Time will change, requirements will change, govt. will change but people's hunger will not change for food. Thanks!

Swamiji has right. Now everywhere high buildings are coming up.almost everywhere cemented.fields have disappeared and only flats we see.buy our Rice from elsewhere, and other vegetables (with pesticide inclusive).more industries, more chemicals in surrounding ,less Oxygen, more disease, get sick and medicine to be taken.Previously People were more healthier ,lived Long and were mostly self producing their livelihood. At least we should save our land what is left at present.so that some healthy surrounding shall remain for our children and their children.
