CM Siddaramaiah's shocking remark on 6-year-old's rape

Bangalore, Jul 22 (Agencies) :  While hundreds of parents protest in panic on the streets of Bangalore after a six-year-old child was allegedly raped at an elite school this month, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today snapped at a reporter saying, "Is this the only news we have?"

The chief minister had been asked for comment on the case, which has terrified not just Bangalore, but the entire country. "Whatever action is required we will take that...Wherever we can invoke the gunda act we will do that," the chief minister added, also accusing the opposition BJP of making political capital from the case.

A roller skating instructor has been arrested for the alleged rape of the child, a first grade student of Vibgyor High School, on July 2. On his laptop and mobile, the police found videos of children being raped.

In 2011, he was sacked by another school for touching girls inappropriately despite numerous warnings. His previous employers, Deen's Academy, today wrote to parents as it faced criticism for not reporting Mustafa to the police.

The school said in its letter that Mustafa was fired in December, 2011, for "gross misconduct" but there was "no culpable incident whatsoever" that required them to report him to the police.

The six-year-old student was allegedly assaulted in a classroom at the school, a top fee-paying institution favoured by local politicians and businessmen.

Her parents found out seven days later and went to the police.

In their protests parents from across the city have demanded tough action against the school for not protecting the child.

In the state Assembly on Monday, Mr Siddaramaiah had announced action against the school's management and said that it had tried to hush up the case and failed to provide CCTV footage of the campus.

    Michael Noronha,

In the first instance, such barbaric incident should not take place with any child. (Irrespective of political status.) Leaders may be bad and blind to others problems but the child is innocent.

We were under the impression that once Mr. Modi comes to power he would initiate/direct some stringent rules towards such nasty happenings but the situation is now moving from bad to worse. People are protesting and raising their concern time to time but the situation is worsening day by day. It is difficult to understand how the parents of kids and girls in our country feel in the present circumstances, where no legal action is taken to punish the rapists . How peoples morals have gone so low ? Humanity is going through terrible stress and panic situation.

Even if it is true that the CM has made the comment, action has been initiated by the State Government. It is shocking that such a barbaric act could be perpetrated on any girl child irrespective of their age. Worse when it is a child. Law should be allowed to take its course. Otherwise the law enforcing authorities could put innocent people behind bars. The Government should act for speedy investigation based on evidence available. Preventive measures should be taken in all schools. Public should also cooperate and make it easier for the Government and the Police to take timely action.

to all those who are supporting govt. if it was your daughter who was raped and if school authorities were not ready to take responsibility, police is not ready to take any action nor arrrest the culprit and govt is sleeping when you raise your concern... will you give same excuse then also. Absolutely no. No matter media made the news, opposition made issue out of this, keep everything aside and just comment how the incident was responded. if school authorities taken responsibility, assured security for children, police had taken quick action arresting the culprit and govt might have responded propmtly... nothing would have opped up at media and no public had to be intervened. Nothing was done. absolutely No. It took 6 days for police just to arrest the culprit. So, no way this can be escaped with all these bloody excuses. Everybody, I mean school authorities, pilice and govt should be shameful and hung themselves accepting the guilty. I appreciate school license should be banned providing some other alternate to the current students either som other institute taking it over, police found guilty are suspended and strict action taken against them, govt and especially the CM who is found sleepy at cabinet while discussin, should be sent home for ever giving power to some other govt immediately. Above all hang the culprit immediately just to console the public, parents and the whole society which is having main question as "what action is taken" ?

One more thing is proved right once again that our people likes & respects religious places or structures more than human beings. Needless to say when we have CM like Siddu and HM like George what else we need in our State? It is a fashion these days for media to put anything that hurts congress as headline. TOI says in its headline PMO under MMS promoted a corrupt judge, where in its entire content it says the opposite. It says 3 SC judges unanimously nominated the corrupt judge. Judiciary being an independent body, Govt., had to go with the recommendations. If anyone was provingly corrupt there was 3 SC judges, yet MMS gets the blame.
It looks like people started to believe lies as truth and truth as lies.

Same here, he is been asked a question and his answer was all perfect. But media wanted a catch line and kept insisting on the same issue again and again, irritatingly, he asked the question which is now a headline.

Congress is usual in its lame attitude, of not learning from mistakes. It need to learn to engage media with smartness.

Siddaramaiah's statement is totally unwanted and uncalled for. He should be sacked with immediate effect as he is not fit to be a CM. I will not hesitate to call him Mutt##la.

Uncultured, heartless, corrupt to the core, apathetic and utterly useless. That defines the government of Karnataka. One would imagine rape of a child would evoke the last ounce of humanity from our elected officials, but no. From the ATM attack to the rapes in Bangalore, this government stoops to a new low every day. Keep doing "shaadi bagya" and "bus bagya" while the bagya of our children is gets crushed.

CM rightly said this Media is paid .As per statistics more than Karnataka there is rapes happening. Why only highlighting Congress ruled state.Where is BJP and media for Rajasthan minister involved in rape ? Where is Media on Pak firing, why there is no news about price rise, why there is no new about RBI declaring poverty line? Why no news on Fekhu dumping his wife,Whay Government not commenting on Israel aggression?Dear Indian please note eventhugh Karnatka government taken action still media is highlighting means how much Feku controls media.Did any media reports Gujarat,MP, Rajasthan rapes. It is Congress who arrested rapist quickly and gave punishment like in Delhi,Mumbai,Karnataka ect........
