Doha: Hanan lift Gulf Incon Metabo cricket trophy

Media Release

Doha, Jul 22: In the finals of the Division I of the 20th Gulf Incon Metabo Floodlit Cricket Tournament 2014, Hanan easily defeated Qalco by 29 runs.

At the prize distribution ceremony which lasted until the early hours of the morning, Adnan Mannai, managing director of Gulf Incon was delighted to note the excitement the tournament had generated amongst the cricketing expatriate population. He unconditionally announced the continued annual sponsorship of this prestigious floodlit cricket tournament.

The finals was marked with the presence of international cricketers Kamran Khan who has played for IPL team Rajasthan Royals from India and Nabeel Malik from Pakistan. There was added flavour with the presence of Star Malik, an International Globe Trotter for peace and friendship between India and Pakistan along with his Honda Car.

Prateek Yadav, business development manager, Metabo Middle East had specially flown from Dubai to grace the occasion along with Sajjad Ahmed Khan, sales manager, tools and equipment – Gulf Incon.

Qalco winning the toss put in Hanan to bat. This proved to be a right decision as Hanan lost wickets regularly and were 36 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the first 6 overs. However, some lusty hitting from Parvez 26 runs with 2 sixes enabled Hanan to reach a respectable total of 93 runs for the loss of 11 wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Shakeel 14 runs and Azwer 13 runs also contributed to the total.

Ifzal and Budhika took 2 wickets each while Shahid, Sumantha, Hilmy, Aftab, Abbas and Pali took a wicket each.

Chasing the easy target, Qalco were rocked when opener Majid was out hit-wicket off the first delivery bowled by captain Kadar who went on to claim one down batsman Sumantha being clean bowled for a golden duck. So Qalco were 1 run for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of the first over. Shahid was caught by Babu off Parvez without scoring. Thereafter Qalco batsmen came under pressure and were 30 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 6 overs. Abbas trying to increase the momentum was stumped by Imran off Aftab for 13 runs with a six. The only other batsman to resist was Aftab who remained not out on 19 runs with 2 sixes while Pali was not out on 8 runs. Finally Qalco managed to reach only 64 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 12 overs.

Kadar claimed 2 wickets. Parvez, Nasseer, Rauf, Shakeel, Azwer, Babu, Shaji and Aftab took a wicket each.

Congratulations to the organizers, winners, all participants and spectators.
Cricket is a game similar to human life being very unique and interesting.
Life span is like twenty twenty, one day match or test match (short, medium or lengthy).
The duration to be on crease/ground to play, field, catch, wicket, score, record, miss, , out, win, lose or draw, due to talent, luck and fate.
The specialty of this game is only few players to be active in the ground and rest millions of idle audiences are off the ground, plenty of commentators and with huge involvement of time, efforts and money.
The time, money and efforts spent on this venture, if partially invested/allocated in energizing the most deserved idle audience, the opportunity is to see a spectacular game change, which can enable many new players to be active/productive in the ground.
