Another rape in Bangalore; 17-year-old seminary student the victim

Bangalore, July 17 (IANS): A 17-year-old seminary student was allegedly raped in the city's north-east suburb Wednesday by three unidentified men, a police official late Thursday.

"According to a complaint filed by the victim today (Thursday), the incident happened yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon when the three accused had barged into the Sisters of Holy Nativity premises at Hennur and forcibly entered her room. After sexually assaulting her, they escaped, leaving the victim unconscious," Joint Commissioner of Police K.V. Sharat Chandra told reporters.

The incident occurred when the victim was alone on the ground floor, while three of her other colleagues were in the first floor of the seminary building.

"The victim has been admitted to St John's Hospital for check-up. We have registered a case of sexually assault against the accused under section 376 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and investigation is on," Chandra said.

Police have launched a hunt to trace the unidentified accused as they are absconding.

The latest incident came to light on a day when hundreds of parents protested against the management of a private school in the city's south-east suburb where a six-year-old minor was allegedly sexually assaulted by two staff members July 2 during school hours.

Police registered a case under section 376 of the IPC against the accused and detained them for interrogation after the victim's parents lodged a complaint July 14 in the local police station.

In another incident last weekend, a 22-year-old post-graduate student was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted July 12 by the son of Bahujam Samaj Party (BSP) leader at Frazer Town in the city's eastern suburb when she was in a car with her male friend in front of her apartment.

Police arrested the main accused Nazir Hyder Tuesday and two of his accomplices Wednesday after the victim lodged a complaint July 13, while three others, who were also present when the incident occurred, are still at large.

hans, udupi, You are absolutely correct, why we never had so many rape cases earlier it is not because women were not bold enough, This is happening not because of Libido of men have increased 10 folds in a decade, these are basically hate crimes if we dig deep into these individuals they must be hating women kind.
Even they (Rapists) have been reared by women what or whoever the criminal may be he will always have soft corner in his heart especially for his Mother and Sister's, This kind of Incidents (Barbaric Rapes) have suddenly increased because of the IPC section 498A Dowry harassment cases which has been misused and abused to the hilt by all the Unscrupulous lawyers and their clients( Women) to totally harass/ demean and demonize probably an innocent or a normal human being who now has lost all his hopes his financial state in tatters his Character is auctioned all his house hold hates him because of the misery bought to them by his esteemed ‘wife’, who probably sneers and jeers at them and is spreading vile/ vicious rumors about her husband and his family.
Now how will any human brain react to such situation (Fight or Flight) either he has to fight or he has to Run away from the situation (Commit Suicide), The Victim (Man) is seething with Anger and Vengeance not only against his wife and family but all females he suddenly loses all his respect towards them and starts preying to vent all his anger/ frustrations caused by his wife instead of turning his anger towards his wife he tries to victimize other innocent females.
Earlier times all the family matters were solved within the family elders or community Leaders but now all goes to so called "Family Court" which is a farce and a sham were victim (man) is again shamed and financially ruined by the Unscrupulous lawyers who probably have a percentage (over and above his normal fees) in this kind of ‘Cases’ and Barbaric Rapes are the ultimate resultant of a wife’s ego, Lawyers greediness, Society’s ineptness and Communities unwillingness to solve family issues amicably .

It is sad that our most of Indian men are tending towards rapes instead of protecting their sisters and other Girls.shame on them.It is now time for Girls themselves to protect by either learning some self defend methods to kick out Boys.when These men are certainly uneducated and with no Moral.Even a good bite with their teeth also may help for the first schock to attacher .they must Report to Police without hesitation or shame. If one is frightened then they take more Advantage. Now India is very famous with this negative News. From Police and our big politic heads cant expect much while till now not much Response from them.whatever the Party is crime should be noted first and punished.after all victims are someones sister or mother, relation. It can happen to anybody tomorrow in our Family.

You cannot blame most of Indian men for rape just because of the acts of a few. Sure few of them are guilty but I still believe most Indian men are good. Our present day girls are not that innocent too. Many a time they have wrongly accused a man of rape, misused the dowry harassment law to torture their husbands and their in-laws and are not true to their husbands after marriage.

Dear readers, It is correct time that we keep our political lines aside and bring some revolutionary changes to our justice system. 1947 rules may not be sufficient to this age and coming generation. Like minded people need to think and bring to the notice of our law makers to bring immediate change. Strict laws needs to be enforced and should be regularly verified by reputed people sidelining any political lines. I have outlined some points here. :
    1. State High Courts needs to be elevate as State Supreme Court.
    2. Once State Supreme court gives death penalty to criminals then only state governor can decide his fate. Increase the death sentence rate urgently.
    3. National Supreme Court(New-Delhi) only can monitor state supreme court functionalities and can solve state level disputes (like Cauvery) other government related issues and civil disputes.

I hope that sooner or later these messages reaches topmost people in this country and law and order prevails in every state. I hope that India will remain safe place to live in coming days. Thanks.

In my view this is the price that Bangalore and I include Mangalore is paying with growth that is not checked. People from remote parts of India come here and find it a paradise. They are not able to comprehend the freedom or decency of the local people. This will continue for a while. At least now we hear about it. I am not sure why the police or ministers don't see it that way.

Why is all such crimes as rape, moral policing etc etc happening here in our Karnataka which was known for being a safe for girls and women in the past, except when BJP was in power who imported all crimes from other BJP ruled states in north india to Karnataka and destroyed the peace of the peace loving people of karnataka.

To whom to believe and where to find safety and security is nowadays a big concern. Schools, colleges, religious place, children homes, orphanages etc., are being chosen for heinous crimes. Parents send their children with worry and have sigh of relief only when they return to home.
Our constitution and Laws though good and powerful are ineffective and have only remained in books and failed to protect the citizens. Rape incidents daringly and that too of minors are increasing considerably, as if there is rivalry among the criminals.
A common man can only condemn, feel shame, make comments, stage protest, make complaint, knock doors of courts, and after some time forget it by passage of time. People are frightened and find themselves in helpless situation.
It is for the Government to enact strict Laws and courts to give justice speedily and see that the culprits get severe punishment including death sentence, so that no one dare to think of doing crime even in a dream. Such criminals do not deserve any mercy, and any move by human rights activists or court or Government exercising any discretion to delay the sentence or protect criminals, is greatest sin and cheating to the victims and their family members as well as to the people.

Humanity is distancing from some among the people. There seems to be no fear of law and order among criminals. Judiciary process should be fast and punishment should be severe, then only crime rate may come down in India.
