Mangalore, Jul 15: It might seem odd to link Moodbidri in the taluk and the Sultanate of Oman, located thousands of kilometres away beyond the expanse of seas. Now, a connection has been established between the two in the form of oblation and special puja procedures conducted at the famous Hosanadu Kodyadka Goddess Annapoorneshwari Temple near Moobidri, which was built by a non-resident Indian entrepreneur. These religious procedures were performed to appease the Goddess and get from her the boon of good health for the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said.
Praying for his good health, Chandika Mahayaga, mass prayers, and other religious procedures were performed at Kodyadka temple in the presence of hundreds of devotees on Sunday afternoon.
Kodyadka Jayaram Hegde, a non-resident Indian entrepreneur, is the founder trustee of this temple. The business concerns being run by him have interests in the Gulf region. He strongly believes that performing prayers and other procedures as per Indian culture and traditions, and seeking blessings of the Goddess will bring improvement in the health condition of the Sultan of Oman. Besides performing the said oblation, community feast was also arranged on the occasion, it is gathered.
The Prasadam resulting out of this oblation, and the Prasadam which is obtained after performing prayers and following the religious rituals at the temple, will soon be sent by flight to Oman, for being delivered to the Sultan there, it is said.
Kodyadka temple has come to be known for organizing community feasts, which in turn, is believed to appease the presiding deity of the temple. The temple follows the practice of repeatedly informing the devotees partaking community feast about the discipline and regulations they have to follow while consuming food, unlike other temples. In addition, the temple is also being identified as unique because of the fact that most of the staff manning the temple are women.
Former trustee of Mundkoor Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Jagadishchandra Hegde, Mittabail Vasudeva Nayak, Anadka Dinesh Kumar, and hundreds of devotees witnessed the oblation and other procedures conducted at the temple.
