Mangalore, Jul 15: The foundation stone for the new building of Milagres Degree College was laid here on Tuesday July 15 by the bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone and blessing the occasion, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said, "Today is a great day for Milagres people, especially to those who are pursuing and had pusued their education in Milagres Institutions.
"We first started with an elementary school up to 5th standard, at a time when there were not many educational instituions in the city. We then began with the high school, PU and other educational branches. The degree college was started in the year 2010."
"These are days of materialism and people want to show off in any way possible. No one is satisfied with what one has in hand but wants more. For this reason, parents also look at the infrastructure at the campus and select the best college for their children. It is for this reason, we came up with a plan for having a new building for the degree college, so as to meet the expectations of a large number of people," he said.
"We not only focus on academic excellence, but also encourage the students to be good citizens and leaders and make them contribute towards the society. We also insist our students on living a well-informed life to face challenges of the society, along with imparting value-based education," he added.
"The estimated cost of the project is Rs 10 crore and it is proposed to be completed within 15 months."
