Kundapur, Jul 15: Serial thieves continue to worry the residents of Kundapur. On the night of Monday July 14, thieves broke into 10 shops located in the commercial area here and looted valuables worth lacs of rupees.
It may be recalled that recently, thieves had broken into eight commercial establishments in Byndoor area.
The thieves broke into four jewellery shops at Car Street, Koteshwar, namely Prakash Jewellers, Veena Jewellers, Kirthi Jewellers and Prasiddhi Jewellers.
At Kundapur College road, Sri Seetarama Vividhoddesha Seva Sahakari Sangha, in Hemmadi, Lewis Hardware, Mathashri Jewelers, and wine shop were looted. In Byndoor, Naikankatte jewellery store and in Kota, Usha Jewellers were targetted.
Police suspect that the thieves were professionals. Sources said that the locks and shutters of all the shops were removed in the same way. Unluckily for the police, there were no CCTVs in the shops.
A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
DySP C B Patil, circle inspector Divakar with the help of fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs from Udupi inspected the areas and collected details. Further investigations are on.
