Kundapur, Jul 14: Hundreds of students on Monday July 14 boycotted classes and held a protest demanding immediate arrest of the killers of 17-year-old girl who was found dead in a forest area at Alandoor near Byndoor here on July 12.
In the protest led by ABVP and SFI, the students demanded the arrest of the culprits regardless of whoever they were, without delay. They urged that the truth be revealed and justice delivered to the poor family.
"Rapes and murders of women in the country are increasing because the criminals rarely get punished. The situation is such that nobody is bothered about the safety of women. An injustice has been meted out on a poor girl. The culprit should be arrested so that the family gets justice," they said.
"The deceased girl was a minor and even though two days have passed the crime came to light, there have been no developments," they added.
The students sent a memorandum to the state home minister through the tahsildar demanding that the culprits should be arrested and subjected to severe punishment.
ABVP leaders of Bhandarkar's college, Dr B B Hegde college and students leaders of SFI, led the protests. SFI state secretary Gururaj Desai also addressed the protesters. The protesters who marched on Kundapur main road submitted their memorandum through the tahsildar at the taluk office.
