Sharjah, Aug 7: Residential areas in Maysaloon, Al Musalla, Muweilah and Al Rolla have run into their fourth day without any running water, upsetting residents who have to continually face a water shortage every summer.

Residents yesterday told Gulf News they're already fed up and want the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authorities (SEWA) to take swift action because they cannot continue living without any water.

"To take a shower, I went to my friend's house which is four kilometres from our building," said T.S.Pandian, who lives in the Muweilah area with his wife and two children.

"It is very difficult to do our day-to-day activities. We do not know what to do," he said. Residents are forced to buy bottled water for cooking and also to wash their dishes.

"I am spending so much on bottled water. I am cooking and cleaning with bottled water, and that is very inconvenient," said Nadia Abdullah.

"I told the landlord and SEWA as well on Saturday, but still nothing has happened," said Abdul Raheem, who lives with five family members in Maysaloon.

SEWA officials say they're doing their best to fix a broken desalination plant which caused the shortage. SEWA will also send water tankers to the affected areas so residents will be supplied with fresh water.
