Mangalore, Jul 11: Alert locals swung into action after a car driver injured a rider and sped away in a bid to escape.

The accident occured at Kulur here on Friday July 11, and the locals chased and caught the driver at Padavinangady, Bondel.

Ashfaq

Vinod who caught the driver

The driver of the Alto car, identified as Ashfaque, reportedly rammed into a two-wheeler at Kulur, injuring the rider. In a bid to escape, the driver sped away without stopping.

The locals who witnessed the accident at once began following the driver and chased him all way till Padavinangady. Finally, a person identified as Vinod managed to catch hold of him, after which his pursuers handed him over to Kavoor police.

Meanwhile, the injured two-wheeler rider was taken to hospital by a Mahindra vehicle which was at the spot at the time of the accident. Strangely though, as soon as the injured person got out of the vehicle, he escaped from the spot without medical treatment. It is suspected that the two-wheeler he was riding may have been stolen, and hence he escaped in order to avoid police questioning.

Panambur police have taken the Alto car into possession. Driver Ashfaq has been handed over to Mangalore North police. A complaint is yet to be registered.

Why the injured Bike rider escaped from Hospital without treatment?
May be his bike was stolen or he did not have valid driving licence,
OR he may be belonging to a gang which intentionally causes minor accidents in front of the Car of some wealth person and then extract huge amount from the Car owner as compromise.

    Mr. Peddu,
What you mean. Yakshagana artists are not the material for fun. They do not play any dirty tricks. Rather you should respect them.If there is pure kannada in Karnataka it is thanks to them.

do not compare him to a Yakshagana Artist....
see its a " Gandukale "of Coastal belt of Karnataka....
If he would have been a Artist of of Yakshagana "i mean Gandu"...he would't have been run after hitting the veichle...
respect the tradition and art and culture..
do not compare this nalayak to that sacred tradition....

There is no victim or aggrieved party in the case. What follows is Police will confiscate bike and Car owner/Driver will loose some bucks ..and that is it nothing else. How far police will take suo moto case is left with public who may peruse the case or not a million dollar question.

We always blame police. We should also notice that the police department has made many heroic investigations and solved many cases. I was just appreciating the local Vinod for his heroic. Either we or Vinod cant influence the police dept. As a responsible citizen he did the fine job
