Udupi, Jul 11: A car was found fallen under a minor bridge at Balaipade, Udyavar here on Friday July 11.
The owner of the car is yet to be traced. The Hyundai car bears Maharashtra registration.
It is surmised that the car may have been moving from Udupi towards Mangalore at night when the driver lost control and the car plunged into the water.
Highway work has been going on at this stretch of the road. The locals opine that the work should have been completed by now, and given the fact that monsoon is here, more such accidents are likely to occur in the coming days.
The spot is prone to accidents, but despite several incidents, no action has been taken to make travelling on this stretch safe, the locals said.
Udupi police arrived at the spot and took the car into possession. Efforts are on to trace the driver.
