Bangalore, Jul 8: Ace compere Ronald Olivera will add a new feather to his cap when he anchors the 38th Wilson Olivera Nite at Sacred Heart Hall of Good Shepherd auditorium in Bangalore on July 27 as he completes his 50th Konkani musical show as master of ceremony. He is perhaps is one of the very few masters of ceremonies who has a distinction of anchoring a single event with utmost fluency in five languages viz English, Konkani, Hindi, Kannada and Tulu.
It won’t be an exaggeration to mention that he was born with the public speaking talent as he started accumulating prizes, trophies and awards in various public speaking competitions at a tender age of nine. Though his passion for public speaking started in Kannada, he reached to the international fame in competitions in English. However, his love for his mother tongue Konkani persuaded him not to stay away from this lovely coastal language.
Even though there might be a few masters of ceremonies in Konkani who have compered for more than 50 musical nites, Ronald Olivera’s achievement stands tall as he has the merit of compering shows for most of the Konkani singers/artistes such as the legendary Konkan Kogul late Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris, Wilson Olivera, Claud D’Souza, Mick Max, Maxim Pereira, Lancy Moras, Esther Noronha and Goan Nightingale Lorna. In addition to this he has also performed in the shows of many Indian artistes such as Kottayam Nazir, Mohammad Aslam, Nadarsha, S Janaki, and many others. Time and again, he has proven that he could handle mega events with utmost ease and to the entire satisfaction of the audience from all walks of life. A hit program “Raymond the Complete Man” Personality Pageant in Bahrain in 2001 spoke volumes of his capability as a compere.
He has also anchored in several Panel discussions involving international personalities and businessmen all around the world, some of which had live telecast on TV channels.
Ronald Olivera is a member of Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization that fosters Public Speaking and Leadership Qualities. There are more than 14,300 Toastmasters Clubs in 122 countries of the world, of which more than 300 clubs are in the Middle East alone. Ronald Olivera has won numerous awards in International and Gulf Level Speech competitions. He has the recognition of being the only toastmaster in the Gulf to have won three international awards in International Taped Speech contests held in California, USA. He is also the only toastmaster to win the first place in four consecutive years in Gulf Level competitions. To add to this, he won three awards in a single Gulf Toastmasters Annual convention (GTAC) held at Muscat, Oman in 2002.
