Udupi: Clive Johns Quadros elected president of YCS central council

Udupi, Jul 7: Clive Johns Quadros of Moodubelle parish was elected president of Yuva Catholic Students Sanchalen (YCS) of the Udupi diocese central committee for the year 2014-15 here on Sunday July 6 at Bishop’s House Hall. Jeenal Saldanha of Pamboor Church was elected secretary.

Prior to the election of YCS office-bearers, training programmes were held for YCS members as well as for animators at the diocese level. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese, who also presided.

Francis D’Cunha, resource person, Fr Charles Menezes, national director of YCS, New Delhi, Fr Edwin D’Souza, director of ICYM/YCS/YSS, diocese of Udupi, Norbert Misquith, resource person, and office-bearers of YCS were present on the dais.

During the inaugural function Elson D'Souza, president of YCS welcomed the gathering while Fredil Rebello proposed the vote of thanks. Rozalia Cardoza compered the programme.

The valedictory function held in the evening was presided over by Fr Charles Menezes. Fr Chetan Machado, YCS director of Delhi diocese and director of northern states of India was the chief guest. Fr Edwin D'Souza, Leslie Aroza, former convener of Youth and also vice-president of family welfare commission of the diocese, Previta, president of YCS, Karnataka state, Elson D'Souza, president, and Shiny Castelino, secretary along with present and past office-bearers of YCS were present on the dais.

Fr Charles Menezes and Fr Chetan Machado spoke during the occasion. Prior to the valedictory function, elections for the year 2014-15 were conducted.

Elson D'Souza welcomed and Jeenal Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks. Shiny Castelino presented the report. Rozalia Cardoza compered the programme. A large number of YCS members and animators participated in the training programme and the elections.
