Bangalore, Jul 5: A programme to celebrate Journalism Day – 2014 was organized recently under the aegis of Patrakartara Vedike Bangalore and Karnataka Media and News Centre. On this occasion, a function to confer 'Dashamanada Hoogara' memorial media awards was also conducted.
The 'Dashamanada Hoogara' memorial media awards were presented to Daijiworld Mumbai bureau chief Rons Bantwal, Radhakrishna Todikana, editor of 'Janambiba' publication from Udupi and several other journalists backed by appreciable achievements.
The function was held at Nayana auditorium of Bangalore Kannada Bhavana. Veteran journalist, K G Nagalakshmi Bai, presided over the function, which was inaugurated by cine star, Roopika. Well-known humorist and writer, M S Narasimhamurthy, participated in the function in the capacity of chief guest.
Editor of Belgaum-based 'Hasiru Kranti', Kalyana Rao Muchalambi, senior advocate, K L Kundaragi, president of Dalit Patrakartara Vedike Bangalore, V S Krishna, president of Karnataka Dalit Patrakartara Vedike Bangalore, Y Manjunath, veteran journalist from Moodbidri, Shekhar Ajekar, and other dignitaries took part as honorary guests.
On the occasion, actress Roopika unveiled the longest lamination of publications.
President of Patrakartara Vedike Bangalore, Mahesh Babu, and editor of 'Kannamuchchale', Y Manjunath, were among those who graced the occasion. As part of cultural events, different dance troupes from all over the state staged group dances, Bharat Natyam, folklore dances and a variety of other programmes.
Mahesh Babu welcomed everyone. Manju Pandavapura presented the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
