Kolar, Jul 5: A four-year-old, who had been abducted, and was bundled in an air-tight plastic bag, surprisingly survived the ordeal for about an hour. The doctors felt that he would have breathed his last if he was remained inside the bag for five or ten minutes more.
A youth, who grew curious about a parcel that looked like a garbage bag inside the compound of a house in Robertsonpet in the district on Friday July 4, decided to look what was inside. To his shock, a small boy emerged from the bag. The boy was later identified as Bhavan Kumar (4), son of Kamaraj and Gomati couple living in front of Five Lights Circle in Uringana. Kamaraj is an executive working for Bharath Earth Movers Ltd, while Gomati is a lecturer in a local college.
Even after questioning several, the police could not make out who were behind the abduction or why the boy was kidnapped.
The parents had admitted their son to the lower KG class at Sacred Heart school near their home. The boy's mother had attended the office on Friday after dropping off her son in the school at around 9.30 am. After the prayer time, an unidentified youth lured the boy by offering chocolate, it is said. The boy was later found from the compound of Parandaman behind the government boys PU college in Robertsonpet.
But for Robinson (26), who passed by the compound at around 10.30 am, whose curiosity got the better of him, the boy would have breathed his last. Robinson thought he heard some feeble noise from inside the plastic bag. Initially, he dithered from opening the bag for the fear of getting bitten by some animal inside, but finally opened the bag to find a boy in school uniform, it is gathered.
Investigation was taken up by Rangashamaiah, police sub-inspector of Robersonpet station.
