Mangalore, July 3: A meeting of elected representatives and leaders of various religious and social heads, MLAs, members of legislative council, members of zilla panchayat in Mangalore Catholic diocese including Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts consisting of 114 churches in Mangalore and ten zones, was held recently at the Bishop's House Hall.
The meeting was presided over by Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D' Souza. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, Fr Muller's Medical College, conducted the meeting. In the election that took place during the meeting, the city’s well-known notary, Catholic marriage registrar, and senior lawyer M P Noronha was unanimously elected secretary of Mangalore diocese council for the next three years.
Noronha is also a member of management committees of Fr Muller’s Medical College, St Joseph's Engineering College, and Catholic Education Board.
He is the former president of MCC Bank and is serving in several social organizations.
Sr Shalini, Victoria D' Cunha, Andrew Noronha, Lancy D' Cunha, and Valerian Sequeira were elected as members of the executive committee.
Fr Francis Rodrigues, editor, ‘Raknno’ Konkani weekly newspaper and
winner of Konkani Sahitya Academy award, and ‘Divine World’ promoter
Stephan Mendes were felicitated on the occasion.
Diocese council vice-president Vicar General Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, Procurator Fr John Vas, Senate secretary Fr Joseph Martis, public communication official Fr William Menezes, laymen commission secretary Fr J B Crasta and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
