Mumbai, July 1 (TH): Actor Preity Zinta met the Mumbai police chief, Rakesh Maria on Monday evening to give more details on her complaint against her former boyfriend Ness Wadia.
On June 12, the actor had filed a case accusing Mr. Wadia of molestation and intimidation at the Wankhede stadium.
The actor met Mr. Maria for over an hour and sought permission to travel abroad to fulfil her professional commitments. She has also submitted a fresh application giving more details of the incident including the names of new witnesses.
“Ms. Zinta had returned to the city to record her supplementary statement. She visited me to speak in person about the case,” Mr. Maria told the press.
“In her application she has mentioned about three incidents where she was allegedly abused by Mr. Wadia. This includes an incident that took place during the 2013 IPL auction in Bangalore and two incidents in Mumbai — one at the Garware Pavillion and the other on the ground at the Wankhede stadium on May 30. All these incidents are being probed,” he added.
The police have also received via emails statements of two foreigners whom Ms. Zinta had named in her supplementary statement recorded before the investigating officer on June 24 at the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) office. This includes an American national who the actor claimed had intervened when Mr. Wadia allegedly molested her in the Garware pavillion. So far, statements of 11 witnesses have been recorded. The police are expected to record the statement of six more people whom the actor has named in the course of the week.
Elaborating on the future course of action, Mr. Maria said the statements of all the witnesses named by Ms.Zinta will be recorded before they summon Mr. Wadia.
