Police sources said that the four were directly involved in the process of demoliting the house. Three of them are said to be labourers and the other a JCB operator.
The arrests were made after John Baptist filed a complaint against Fr Francis Almeida, Fr Cyril D'Mello, another priest and 40 others persons for forcibly demolishing the house he was staying in on Thursday June 26. He also charged them of threatening and assaultig him and taking away his belongings.
Following the complaint, the Bunder police registered an FIR and carried out the arrests. More arrests are expected in the coming days, sources said.
On Thursday, John Baptist was evicted by St Aloysius College administration in connection with a long-pending dispute over a house at Karangalpady. While Baptist claimed that the house belonged to him, the College has maintained that it was donated to the College by Alice D'Souza, the previous owner for whom Baptist was a caretaker.
