Beltangady: Family abandons mentally ill girl at bus stand

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady

Beltangady, Jun 28: A young woman who is reportedly mentally ill was abandoned by her own family at Ujire bus stand here on Thursday June 26 evening.

25-year-old Shaila was seen roaming around Ujire bus stand during the night, an when locals enquired about her wherabouts, it came to light that her own family members had left her in the middle of the town. She is said to be from Chikmaglur. Her family reportedtly brought her to Beltangady to admit her in an ashram, but due to lack of space in the ashram she could not be admitted there.

Local social activists Gracian Veigas, Ravi Chakkitalaya and Ujire gram panchayat president Balakrishna Gowda provided her a stay in a Ujire house, and later on Friday morning admitted her to Seon Ashram.

It is learnt that Shaila hails from a rich family but they do not want her. Beltangady sub-inspector Prakash contacted woman activist Jyothi, and helped Shaila get admitted in Seon Ashram.

Police are learnt to have traced the address of the family that abandoned the girl.

People around Ujire expressed shock and condemned the family's inhuman act.

What kind of a mother, brother, sister and father can abandon their own offspring. Did the mother not think what could have happened to her daughter had she been found by some perverts. How could the young lady defend herself in her state of mind. Thank God and thank the noble ones who found her before anything unfortunate happened. A woman is not safe anywhere in the world today let alone a mentally disturbed one. I dread to think what could have happened to her had she been found by any anti-social elements. How do people sleep or look into the mirror after such an act.

I think the family should be held responsible for this grave act of carelessness, fine them heavily, socially boycott them. Nobody goes to a mental institution on the spur of the moment and admits a patient, reservations need to be made in advance, a good level of correspondence is initiated and only then is the admission done, but here I don’t think anything like this was done. I can also imagine what kind of abuse she has faced in her 25 years at her own house.

Feel bad for Shaila who deserted in the middle of the road by her own parents,
Sorry sister, your parents no better than evils they forgot that they lost a precious gem from their richness
she is just mentally ill, She could have been better if she treated properly by her family
Thanks to humanity who helped her timely and to SEON for promising her life and shelter.

I am shocked and find no words to express my thoughts.Leaving back a mental ill Girl at busstand !we all know what can happen to a lonely Girl even in Company .we had so many examples. And These Family members giving a lapidar excuse saying no place and leave simply to roam about and go home.I wish such Person one day to leave there without any Cent or house .Horrible.How did others found a place and before bringing someone to admit in Ashram, usually inform about it and after having a seat bring the Person.Their excuse will nobody believe.Poor Girl who knows what she suffered till then.Even a house pet goes out of house, people go searching.whereas here, they went home and calmly enjoyed most probably for their done Job .God open your eyes and enlighten them.

How can the family do this?.its really shocking. i think we as human lost humanity within ourselves. god will never forgive these kind of acts. we are all creature od god whom call in different names because of our different faith. bu definitely their is power who has created us and this world. we all will be going back to him. we will be punished in one way or the other when we are alive and will be hell once we go back his feet. i curse this family who has deserted this innocent women. Local administration has taken a good move. she needs to be rehabilitated as she is human being who is still alive and can feel the pain. punish the family who has brought to he this stage.

Great work done by Seon Ashram. Its Managing Trustee Mr.Paulose dose a great job by looking after lot of poor and specially mentally ill people. When he came to Muscat for collection, he told us that there are 285 inmates in the ashram. Lets all be generous and help Mr.Paulose to do this good work of taking care of mentally sick people.

This much Inhumanity people keeps in their heart. I cant believe this happens in India. The country which love each other without noticing cast culture and color. Now a days people are attracting towards Western cultures, which encourage them to do some this kind of shameless acts. What is Rich family. They are not rich they are so poor. Money does not makes rich to a person or family. The loving heart only makes rich. The family should bring to that Ashram and let them live for some time.

Oh God, these incidents reminds us the great sacrifice some good people are doing at ORPHANAGES, OLD AGE HOMES, HOSPITALS etc.
They take care of those whom even family members have abandoned!
They are true signs of living God's presence through their work. They take care of most neglected sections of the society.
They are doing it not for themselves but to glorify the name of God.

In the present situation everybody in the society want to live comfortably and do not want to take responsibility of taking care of their own kith and kin, whether it is rich family or poor.Every body want to live of course comfortable life. But not like this.In the case of poor it is a known fact that they can not afford for their treatment or taking care of.When it comes in case of monied, rich people,it becomes a question of prestige, status in the society and ready to put the disabled, old and sick people in the Ashrama by paying exorbitant money. But they do not want to see them anymore. It is so pity to note that now a days there is no concern for fellow human beings, kith and kins and people became so selfish centered and forgotten basic value of the life.
In olden days people were measured not by their wealth and richness but by their virtues and conduct but now the just the reverse. There was compassion, love, respect and regard among the people in the past.
Here in this case it is pity to see that mentally ill girl has been abandoned at bus stand by her own family members,How cruel it is?Are they really human beings or animals? What is the use of possessing lot of wealth, money when they cannot look after their own family member?.Will God punish, curse them or bless them for this act?.Let Almighty God grant this girl a respectable, peaceful life in the Ashram and thanks to the people who extended their humane gesture in sending her in the Ashram.Who knows the girl might have gone mental due to the torture of family members.Only thorough probe can reveal the truth.

Every one wants every thing to be normal to take a perfect picture for the facebook or show them self's to the society in perfect way.
Living with a mentally challenged people is not an easy task & will be never ending burden unless treated & cared properly. If the family feels it wont be in good interest of the family or the mentally challenged person living under the same roof then at least they can them to a ashram, where they are taken care properly.
Lets pray God almighty to bless every one with healthy child..
